The game is set in WW2. Just like today, only a handful of nations have access to aircraft carriers in HOI4. Those nations are USA, UK, and Japan. Though Japan has very few.
Carriers are a game changer in naval battles of HOI4. Especially on pacific theater. Besides they can help with naval invasions and land battles that are close to the shore.
One must protect carriers with various fleets, build carrier specific aircrafts, and have enough oil to operate overseas. It’s very costly but definitely worth having.
7. Rise of Nations
Aircraft carrier is my favorite and possibly the best unit in the Rise of Nations. Funny thing about Rise of Nations is the fact that you start the game in stone age and then progress enough to build carriers and nukes.
Just look out for submarines because they heavily counter aircraft carriers in this game. Pro tip: Destroyers counter submarines.
