Are you tired of dark, grim setting of dystopian worlds? If so, let’s follow the opposite path. Welcome to the list of the best games set in utopias. Stunning landscapes, beautiful buildings, friendly people, cute animals, and nature friendly harmonious jobs. I wish that was the reality of world we live in. Well, at least we have games.
According to wikipedia, utopia is an imaginary community or society that possesses highly desirable or near-perfect qualities for its members. Hypothetical utopias focus on equality, economics, government, justice, and peace. There are also socialist, capitalist, monarchical, democratic, ecological, egalitarian, reformist, and many more sub utopias for different world views.
The opposite is of utopia is dystopia, a community or society that is extremely bad. That’s something I’m tired with in video games. Dystopia is the very world we live in. I want the opposite in my video games. And I guess you feel the same.
15 best utopian games:
1. My Time At Portia
2. Stardew Valley
3. Littlewood
4. Tropico 6
Most beautiful island. You can create your utopia perfectly. Everything can be clean energy, free housing, free food, etc.
5. WorldBox
Worldbox is a God simulator. As a God, you create the earth, mountains, rivers, seas, oceans, plants, animals, and living beings. I’m talking about humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and stranger creatures. It’s literally the The Silmarillion. The bible of the Lord of the Rings. If you haven’t read it, now is the time.
As a God of this universe, you can create a utopia or a dystopia for your creation. Basically, it’s your choice to be a benevolent or a malevolent God.
Here are my settings for a Worldbox utopia:
- Wars and civil wars forbidden.
- Blessed land.
- Blessed people.
- Abundance of food.
- Abundance of space for population.
- No diseases.
- No monsters.
- No natural disasters.
That’s how I start my every Worldbox gameplay. Then I get bored… And when I’m get bored, the utopia quickly turns into a dystopia.
