What are some of the cutest, fluffiest, and the most beautiful pets in role playing games? Let me get this Stright, there are many! Because almost all role-playing-games has optional pets to adopt in-game. A pet is a pet, they’re all cute. But today, I’ll be sharing my favorite 10 best RPG pets. I hope you too like these cute pets.
Let’s see, Skyrim is the RPG with the most pet option. There weren’t many at the start but DLCs and creation club content introduced many. One of them is in this list too. Though you can add thousands of more different pets via mods.
I did not include summonable pets from RPGs to this list. Because a summonable familiar is not a real pet. You can form a bond and they don’t have real personality. For example, druid class can summon many animals, but they’re temporary and disappear after each battle.
10 best pets in role playing games:
1. Dogmeat
Dogmeat is our first and the most useful companion in Fallout 4. It’s a German Shepherd, and the only German Shepherd you’ll encounter in Fallout 4.
Why people like Dogmeat the most is its AI. It’s really acting natural, like a real dog, unlike other dumb human companions. It wanders around sometimes. That’s why it’s one of the best RPG pets ever. Thankfully Dogmeat has the essential tag. So that you don’t need to worry about his safety. He’ll always be okay!
You can even build a little doghouse for him when you’re creating a settlement. As you know, humans and dogs have a special relationship for thousands of years. I guess that’s why I love them so much.
2. Farm Doggo
For those who don’t know yet, Stardew Valley is the highest rated farming RPG on Steam. The game starts when you inherit your grandfathers farmhouse. Then you farm, raise animals, and rebuild the farmhouse. It’s a pretty cozy game to play for relaxation.
Of course, you can have pets too in Stardew Valley. Though there are two choices, it’s either cat or a dog. My favorite is of course, the dog.
You can feed, pet, and increase your friendship with your doggo.
3. Nibble
Nibbles is a cat living in the Megabuilding H10 that can become player’s pet in Cyberpunk 2077. There aren’t many animals or pets in Cyberpunk 2077, so, you want to have Nibbles. It’s a rare thing!
It’s a Sphynx breed with the coloration of a Siamese. Guess that’s how they breed cats in the future. Wish I could re-name it Beerus.
Nibbles will stay at the apartment at all times. It’s not a dog or whatever after all.
4. Eagle
Eagle, raven, hawk… Main protagonist of Assassin’s Creed games always has a bird companion. They’re pretty useful to.
With Bird vision / Eagle Sense, you can spot enemies, tag enemies, and see special locations. In later games, the eagle can go on and harass your opponents to create a moment of distraction for you. They’re really the best RPG pets and the most of useful ones.
Assassin’s Creed Eagles:
- Synin (Raven) – AC Valhalla
- Ikaros (Golden Eagle) – AC Odyssey
- Senu (Bonelli’s Eagle) – AC Origins
- Rest? Just regular eagles…
5. Mutt
Mutt, is a companion in Kingdom Come Deliverance which was introduced with the A Woman’s Lot DLC. Its abilities can be improved with the Houndmaster skill.
Mutt is very useful in hunting, traveling, and finding hidden stuff. But from time to time, he gets into your way, which can be frustrating. But his cuteness is worth it!
Kingdom Come Deliverance houndmaster skills:
- Hunt – Can easily hunt hares, deer, and challenge boars.
- Nice Doggy – +1 charisma for owning a dog.
- Sic! – Attack on command.
- Sniffer – Finding foes from distance, avoiding ambushes.
- Faithful Companion – +10 obedience.
- Alarm – Growl to warn about nearby enemies.
- Tooth and Claw – Causing foes to bleed.
- Seek! – Finding interesting places.
- Chase – Pursues fleeing foe.
6. Companion
Dog is a companion in Mount & Blade: Warband – Viking Conquest. It can be found in the villages. Though you need to have a sausage in your inventory to recruit one.
You can train special abilities of your dog with special food. But don’t expect it to be stronger than any other warrior you can get.
7. Monster
Elytra Nymphs are large creatures that are look like half spider half mantis. Scariest stuff, I would probably die if I saw something like this in real life!
They are added to Skyrim with the Saints & Seducers from Creation Club contents.
An Elytra Nymphs can be your pet in Skyrim after you rescue it from the cage in the Seducers or Saints Bandit camp.
It looks like a monster but also super useful. You can milk it for Mystic Venom, let it carry your burdens, and pet it when you want to.
All in all, Elytra Nymphs are good have both as companions and pets at player home.
8. Mabari War Hound
Dragon Age Origins is a squad-based RPG in which you can roam with 4 character. One of them can be the Mabari War Hound if you like. They are cute!
Mabari War Hounds are not regular dogs either, they’re a breed of intelligent dogs bred by the mages. Some say Mabari’s are close to human intelligence.
In the game, sickly Mabari you’ve encounter in Ostagar is infected by darkspawn blood. If you gather the special flower and heal it, you’ll have your own darkspawn immune Grey Warden Mabari Warhound.
9. Roach
Some say Roach is not a pet in Witcher 3. I disagree. Roach is a pet and much more! Roach is a mount, a pet, a companion, and a friend!
Did you know that you can pet Roach by holding down the jump button next to her? It wasn’t a thing before but introduced with an update. Well, maybe it’s time to re-play Witcher 3.
Oh by the way, Roach is a mare (female) in the game. Most people think it’s a male horse, don’t know why.
10. Brainy Thingy
You’ve never seen a pet like that before. It’s an abomination, an eldritch horror, but also cute in its own way!
Main antagonist of Baldur’s Gate 3 is mindflayer hivemind. They abduct humans, plant a parasite inside their brains, and turn them into slaves. Infected humans either turn into a mindflayer, or their brain jump out of skull and turn into the cute thing you see above.
Also check out other possible pets in Baldur’s Gate 3.
It’s a temporary companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 and calls itself Us. Because it’s probably part of the hive-mind.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is an early access game. Maybe Us will be a permanent companion in the future with the full release!
