We start to see more and more real-life actors in games as gaming industry grows. It’s very nice to see your favorite actors in video games. If you feel the same, check out the list of 23 games with real life actors below.
Using a Hollywood actors voice and facial motion capture on a video game character is dope. Kudos to Kojima, Death Stranding did a very job with it. Seeing Keanu on Cyberpunk was also breathtaking.
As for the cons? Well, if the studio uses all the budged-on actors, game might end up being bad or average. It’s also possible to get uncanny valley on lower graphics settings. Other than that, I see no problem with Hollywood actors appearing in my video games.
1. Death Stranding
2. Squadron 42
3. Crime Boss: Rockay City
4. Beyond: Two Souls
5. Until Dawn
6. Detroit: Become Human
7. Cyberpunk 2077
8. Far Cry 6
9. COD Advanced Warfare
10. True Crime: Streets of L.A.
There are many big hitter Hollywood actors in True Crime: Streets of LA such as Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Madsen, and Ron Pearlman. However, they’re only contributing with their voices. Motion capture technology wasn’t available on 2003 (game release date) yet.
Only celebrity in True Crime: Streets of L.A. with his real-life model is Snoop Dogg. You can play as Snoop Dogg in a special mission called Dogg Patrol.
Dogg Patrol can only be unlocked by collecting all 30 bones across the map. It’s a 60 minutes run where you either be a good cop or a bad cop.
11. Hitman 2
Sean Bean is one of my favorite actors. Almost watched every work of his. There is one common thing about his roles, in the end, Sean Bean’s character always dies.
It’s funny to see him as an assassination target in Hitman 2. At least we’re already used to see him die again and again.
He is the first elusive target you chase in the game. Spoiler alert: No matter how you kill him, he reappears injured later in the game and must be killed again. That’s the fate of Sean Bean I guess…
12. Mass Effect
13. Assassin’s Creed Franchise
14. Horizon Zero Dawn
15. Ghost Recon Breakpoint
16. Alien: Isolation
17. Alone in the Dark 2024
18. Halo 5
Nathan Fillon said himself that he is a Halo guy who really enjoys the game. He did a voice in Halo 3 and came back with motion capture in Halo 5: Guardians.
Fun fact: Nathal Fillion asked the developers to make him look more handsome.
I haven’t watched many of his movies or TV series, but he seems like a cool guy.
19. Quantum Break
20. L.A. Noire
21. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
22. Far Cry 3
Michael Mando, yes, he was already an actor before Far Cry 3. Casted in dozens of TV series. Though his Far Cry 3 performance and popularity jumpstarted his career.
I think his biggest gigs after the Far Cry 3 was the Better Call Saul, Orphan Black, and Spiderman Homecoming.
Vaas was my favorite character in Far Cry 3 and I’m happy to see him on more projects including games, movies, TV series, etc.
