Baldur’s Gate 3 does not have crafting menu. Crafting is almost non-existential except for the Adamantine forge. Which allows you to craft masterwork weapons only. So, how to craft in Baldur’s gate 3?
Swen Vincke, the founder and creative director of Larian Studios has told that crafting won’t be a huge part of the game. Because D&D is not really into crafting either. It simply slows down the game-pace.
For some people, crafting in RPG is a hassle. However, others including myself really enjoy the crafting aspect. Last Larian Studios game Divinity Original Sin 2 had tons of crafting options. Why shouldn’t Baldur’s Gate 3 follow the same thing? I know BG3 is a D&D but still, it is a role-playing game that can handle the crafting very well.
Let’s see if Baldur’s Gate 3 full release will have more crafting options or not.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Crafting Recipes
Let’s start with the Baldur’s Gate 3 crafting potions. You can create the Elixir of Silvanus by following the healer Nettie quest. Mugwort Bundle goes into Cauldron of Boiling Theriac and creates Elixir of Silvanus. Which is the only thing you can craft via the Cauldron of Boiling Theriac so far. Perhaps next patches will introduce new recipes.
How to craft masterwork weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3? Finish the Masterwork Weapon is a quest in Baldur’s Gate 3. Quest can be triggered by acquiring Highcliff’s journal which can be found in Blighted Village. (X:30 Y:425) You also need the Sussur tree bark to ignite special fire in Adamantine forge. Sussur tree bark can be found in Underdark.
Masterwork weapon recipes in BG3:
- Common sickle > Sussur sickle.
- Common dagger > Sussur dagger.
- Common greatsword > Sussur greatsword.
It basically turns your common weapons into uncommon ones. To be honest, it is not worth the hassle at all. Though finishing a quest is always satisfying.
All in all, crafting in Baldur’s Gate 3 is highly limited. Developers might add new recipes in the future. But don’t expect anything big because as I have said before, crafting won’t be a huge part of this D&D game. It is one of the worst things about Baldur’s Gate 3. Do let me know what you think about current state of crafting. Till later.
crafting in almost any video game is a waste of time
In older games, crafting matters a lot.
However, newer games are focused on babysitting the player, and providing all kinds of gear every level. So, yeah, nowadays crafting in gaming is kinda waste-of-time. Unless you are role-playing.
