Unique star systems in Stellaris are pre-made and can randomly appear in galaxy. Some always appear, some has a chance to appear. So, you’ll not always find these systems in your playthroughs. It’s also depending on the galaxy size. For example, Sanctuary star system has a 4% chance to appear in tiny, 8% in small, 12% in medium, %16 in large, and 20% chance in huge sized galaxies.
Also, some star systems can be spawned in-game via events. Like Dacha / Helito. It’s a unique system and may or may not appear depending on your choice in the grand theft planets event.
Your best helper is Sentry Array megastructure for finding unique systems. It’ll give sight on the entire galaxy. Once you find your favorite system, you can wage a war for it.
Top 12 Stellaris unique star systems:
1. Sanctuary
Sanctuary is my favorite unique star system of Stellaris simply because it contains an abandoned ring world megastructure. Ring world ranks number in Stellaris megastructure tier list. Getting one for almost free is a blessing.
There is one little problem though. It’s guarded by 40-50k fleet power. Though once they’re defeated, you can easily invade and take over the ring segments as long as you’re not pacifist. (Pacifist empires can’t invade primitive species.)
In short, Sanctuary is the best unique system in Stellaris because it’s hosting a fully build ring world.
2. Great Wound
This system does not have any resources or planets. What makes it so great to have? Answer is simple. Insane amount of research and dark matter production.
Dark matter has its uses in the late game, but you can always sell it on the galactic market to buy almost any resources you need anytime. Finding it early is very useful for empires with dark consortium civic because it gives dark matter harvesting technology at the very beginning.
What happened to great wound system in Stellaris? It’s unknown, there is not official lore behind it. It’s probably the aftermath of a singularity experiment.
All in all, it’s the coolest looking system and definitely worth getting for the bonuses.
3. Wenkwort
Wenkwort is one of my favorite unique systems, it’s very good if can get early.
There is an empty Gaia world called Wenkwort in Wenkwort system. Upon colonization, player will get an event to establish Wenkwort Gardens granting +40% bureaucrat/culture worker output and +20% researcher output.
Gaia worlds already give 10% bonus to all resource production as a default. This includes research and unity production too. When you add Wenkwort custodian on top of it, you can get insane amount of research and unity from a single planet. Finding it early is a game changer.
4. Larionessi Refuge
Larionessi Refuge is a unique star system containing a big relic world. Relic worlds are great because they have good bonuses and can be turned into ecumenopolis without the need of arcology project perk. However, I have other uses for the Larion relic world.
The system hosts The Signal archaeology site. Excavating it has three rewards to choose from.
- Lump sum of engineering and society output.
- +10% amenities, +10% planetary build speed, and +10% food from jobs bonus to capital.
- Creation of Larionessi Consciousness unique empire as a vassal. (It’s my favorite choice.)
5. Dacha
Dacha or Helito is a unique star system hosting 6 Gaia worlds. Yes, you heard it right, 6 total Gaia worlds are in Dacha. The worlds are inhibited by a unique primitive species.
They look primitive from outside but spawn undefeatable fleet when attacked. Befriending them will spawn a free Gaia world in your home system.
These guys are advanced enough to move planets from system to system, yet they like to live harmonious with nature just like primitives.
You can build multiple observatory posts and collect the immense resources with mining stations.
Related anomaly/event is called grand theft planets.
6. Xraneax
Xraneax is the simplest unique system in Stellaris. Its simplicity makes it one of my favorites.
The system has a tomb world which is defended by a lone defender. Lone defender is only one weak ship that can easily be defeated.
Backstory of the tomb world will be revealed once Lone defender is defeated. It’s pretty grim…
At least you get to rename tomb world and call it Lone Defender via event and gain free lump sum of unity. Unity reward is scaled with your unity / tradition level. It’s very good at any point of the game because you can unlock few tradition levels with it instantly.
7. Azilash
It’s a very powerful system but appears very late in the game. That’s the only reason it isn’t ranked number one.
After completing 5 astral rifts and hitting mid-game timeline, you can get a special event called the crystal sphere. Studying crystal sphere might spawn a strange wormhole in your home system. The strange wormhole leads to center of the galaxy which is hosting a unique system called Azilash.
Azilash is invaded by interdimensional forces until you complete the event chain. If you fail to repel them, system is forever lost to you. But completing the questline will reward you with the Azilash system which is filled with strategic resources and a 40 sized Gaia planet called Zeya. This planet also spawns free unbidden pops to your service from time to time.
8. Ultima Vigilis
Ultima Vigilis is a contingency like system but with no connection to Contingency. In fact, it’s connected to Unbidden. The system is heavily guarded by strong ships, but definitely worth fighting for it.
System has an excavation site with powerful rewards. Stellaris Ancient Robot World rewards:
- Spawn a machine world with 80 machine pops. (Machine civ only.)
- Spawn fully upgraded sentry array.
- 80 robotic pops distributed random owned colonies.
- 25 alloys deposit on the world.
- Create a robot subject in system, spawn a machine world with 80 pops. (My favorite choice.)
There is one downside though. These rewards, except for Sentry Array, can make Unbidden crisis spawn earlier than endgame start date. This hidden effect has a 50% chance.
Very good system but most of the times you’ll need a sentry array to find it. Since it’s unreachable via conventional means, you’ll need a jump drive or quantum catapult to get there.
9. Amor Alveo
Amor Alveo home to the space amoebas. Build a starbase there ASAP if you can pacify amoebas or eliminate them. Because Amor Alveo is filled with resources. Base total resources: +8 energy, +12 minerals, +6 society, +3 exotic gases, +3 volatile motes, +2 rare crystals.
It’s also a perfect candidate for an arc furnace because it’s filled with planetary bodies and asteroids. Top it up with a Cybrex mining station and you’re gold.
Plus, just look at it. It’s one of the most visually beautiful systems in the galaxy.
10. Federation’s End
Federation’s End is another unique system which spawns in the galaxy from time to time. It’s a black hole system with two orbital habitats. Both habitats are inhibited by two different primitive species. Depending on your empire ethos, you can observe, invade, or enslave them.
It does have 25% chance of spawning every run. The lore behind it is yet to be known. If you have any idea, I would like to hear about it, feel free to use the comment section below.
11. Sol
You can choose Sol as a system in Stellaris. It’s good for both role-playing and gameplay because Sol is a perfect candidate for arc furnace and dyson swarm thanks to its powerful sun, and vast planetary bodies and asteroids.
But the real fun thing is finding Sol randomly in the galaxy. State of Sol and “Earth” is not constant in Stellaris. Sometimes Earth civilization is primitive and sometimes very close to space age. The worst possible outcome for Earth civilization is naturally nuclear war. Finding about Earth nuclear war via observatory is really grim. Earth turns into a tomb world, becoming just like every other rock drifting in the Galaxy.
12. Arrakis
Arrakis was name of the planet but in Stellaris it’s the name of star system. However, there is always a desert world in it.
Unfortunately, it’s unique in name only… Wish it had huge amount of ZRO deposits and sand worm planetary feature.
It’s just an easter egg. But it’s very cool to find and colonize it as a Dune fan.
I think there are some Dune themed mods on the Stellaris steam workshop. You can try them if you want more flavor on the star system Arrakis.
