Is it possible to play as dragonborn in Baldur’s Gate 3? Unfortunately, dragonborn race is not in the game yet. But it will be in the next patch. Wait for patch 9 if you want to create a dragonborn character. This update will be available on mid-December.
How do we know that the dragonborn race is coming? There wasn’t any official announcement regarding this topic. We know that thanks to the Baldur’s Gate 3 datamine information. Other upcoming races are Half-orc and Duergar. Well, looks like Baldur’s Gate 3 full release will be a fiesta!
Here is the video of BG3 Dragonborn race models acquired via data mining:
You may already have seen these as they were posted on the Larian discord by Alana, creator of the amazing Customizer’s Compendium mod for BG3. But just in case you haven’t – Dragonborn Test Heads included in the patch 8 files. pic.twitter.com/6egfdO1CKH

Dragonborn originally hatched from dragon eggs.
Dragon Kin is strong. Moreover, best attributes of dragons and humanoids are combined in this unique race.
Also, they are tall and strongly built, just like daddy Halsin.
BG3 Dragonborn Update
Baldur’s gate 3 dragonborn character models are publicly available now. Thanks to datamining, we know a lot more than we are supposed to.
Divinity Original Sin 2 lizard race and BG3 dragonborn have pretty similar designs. Elder Scrolls’ Argonians are not that different either. Only difference is, D&D dragonborn race is much buffer. As they should be.
You can expect much more content in the full version. Because according to latest official statement, almost everything from Player’s Handbook will also be in Baldur’s Gate 3. You might want to check out the books:

To be honest, I can’t bring myself to playing non-humanoid races in role playing games. Just can’t get into character, I guess. However, most players disagree with me on that. My personal favorite D&D race is demon-kin, and I am looking forward to BG3 Fey’ri race update. All in all, it is good to have more playable races, classes, characters, etc. Because diversity increases re-playability and flavor in RPG.
Thank you for reading! Don’t forget to name your dragonborn character Dovahkiin for shit and giggles. See you soon!
