Hello and welcome to my Baldur’s Gate 3 soul coin guide. Today I will be sharing all the information available on the soul coins. Also you will find their exact locations in BG3. Shall we begin?
What to do with soul coin in Baldur’s Gate 3? Unfortunately soul coins have no use in the BG3 early access. But certainly they will come in handy in the full release.
Here is something interesting, in the tabletop, soul coins are a valuable currency and power sources in the Nine Hells. That makes me wonder, are we going to visit Avernus in the later acts? Who, know, let us hope so because that would be really interesting.
Soul coins might also be linked with cambion Raphael’s questline. Eventually we will find out the truth behind soul coins.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Soul Coin Locations
Currently there are only four soul coins in the game. Because as you know, it is an early access game. Still, you can collect them for collection purposes I guess?
Let’s break it down. The first soul coin can be obtained from the tiefling Nadira. She is at the druid grove, targeted by an assassin bugbear. You can either save her and collect your soul coin as reward, or simply loot her corpse. It is up to you. Generally players tend to save her because she is the prettiest tiefling. <3
Other three soul coins can be found under the abandoned temple. BG3 crypt soul coin locations:
- First one is in the room with the gas pits / trapped sarcophagus.
- Second one is in the side room with the book of dead gods.
- Final one is in the alcove to the right of the Jergal statue, the one without the button in it.
Now you know their locations, still you may miss them. Because they are really small coins, hidden in the dark. Make sure to press alt to reveal them and zoom in if you find it necessary.
BALDUR’S GATE 3 IRON FLASK < Here is another unique item.
I guess there was soul coins in both Nautolid and Blighted Village at some point. However, they are probably removed in the later patches. I wonder why…
What is a Soul Coin in BG3?
Here is a book about soul coins found in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Academic Disclosure: This research was funded independently and conducted at a site in Avernus, the first plane of the Nine Hells. Candlekeep does not encourage or promote the entrapment of mortal souls.
Soul coins, as a concept, are one of merciless simplicity. The sum of personal and magical essence – the soul – is bound into a minted piece of infernal iron and used as currency by devils and their cohort.
They are frequently traded, for their value can purchase mercenaries, magical items, and even fuel the strange engines in the Hells. However, there is a fascinating culture surrounding soul coins as well. I spoke to a devil who admitted she has one coin that she will never sell, for it was the bargain that got her promoted out of lemure status.
Thank you for reading my take on the BG3 soul coins. I really hope you enjoyed reading it.
