New game+ or new game plus is a feature in video games that is unlocking skills, abilities, and powerful items for the second playthrough. It can also import your character from the old save to the new game.
GAMES WITH INFINITE PROGRESSION
Purpose of new game plus feature is to increase game replay value. Replaying the game you’ve just beaten from start would be boring. New game+ overcomes that by offering unique bonuses. Starting over with a maxed-out character is really interesting.
All in all, NG+ mode is for players who can’t get enough of the game. With a NG+ character you can hack and slash your opponents with ease right from the start. Can also find the stuff you’ve missed. Like some side quests, treasures, locations, and easter eggs. But the real blast would be getting an alternative ending.
1. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Sekiro is the best souls-like video game set in Japan. Ghost of Tsushima is also another amazing game set in Japan but it’s not souls-like.
NG+ is a stomping ground in Sekiro. The difficulty increases don’t get me wrong, but you get so much better at the game, and unlock all the abilities right from episode 1.
It’s a very unique game and one of my personal favorites. Still wait for Sekiro 2 from the FromSoftware studios. Until then, I’ll be enjoying Sekiro new game plus. Well at least they gave us Elden Ring. Which is the second game of this list.
2. Elden Ring
3. Ghost of Tsushima
NG+ is perfectly implemented in Ghost of Tsushima. You can skip the intro sequence, skip cutscenes, carry your belongings, get new unlockables, and raid replayable outposts. If you liked Ghost of Tsushima, play NG+, it’s definitely worth it.
Besides it’s impossible to fully level up all of your gear and weapons without playing new game plus. The game is designed that way.
Not having to farm resolve and health again is pretty cool too, you can truly enjoy the game without the extra grind.
4. Shadow of War
5. Dishonored 2
6. Resident Evil 4
7. Devil May Cry 5
8. Prototype 1 & 2
9. Far Cry 6
10. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 1 & 2
11. Dragons Dogma 1 & 2
12. Witcher 3
I really love new game plus in the Witcher 3 because it’s actually lore friendly. At this point of his life, Gerald easily hunts down every monster in the book and have every weapon in his arsenal. New game plus really captures that reality. In fact, NG+ should’ve been the default of Witcher 3.
Besides now you can try different builds, make different choices in quests, and romance the characters you missed out!
I think The Witcher 3 is one of the best fantasy RPGs of all times if not the best. Therefore, anyone who liked the game should definitely play Witcher 3 NG+ mode as well.
13. God of War Ragnarök
14. Days Gone
15. Dark Siders 3
16. Persona 5 Royal
17. Assassin’s Creed Origins & Odyssey
Origins is the most interesting Assassin’s Creed game simply because it’s set in the mysterious ancient Egypt. Is it worth re-playing? Most definitely.
Starting a new game with all the assassin abilities unlocked right from start is very entertaining. Because unlocking every available assassin skill takes lots of hours. You find yourself in the endgame by the time you unlocked fun stuff.
Besides now you can truly immerse yourself in the story instead of grinding every useless collectible or side-mission on the map.
18. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Deus Ex have multiple end-game abilities that are pretty much OP. Not being able to use augmentations too much can be frustrating. Luckily, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided allows new game plus feature.
Everything in Adam’s personal inventory, apartment wall storage, DLC storage, praxis points, and collectibles will transfer as well.
You’ll become the Terminator in NG+ plus mode. If you want to enjoy the power fantasy, just give it a shot.
19. Chrono Trigger
Chrono Trigger is the timeless RPG classic of Square Enix. It has the best story ever. Definitely worth replaying with the new game plus mode.
NG+ mode of Chrono Trigger lets you keep your level and gear. Can also get the alternate endings which is the main reason why its NG+ is popular among players.
The game is not only available on Steam, but also available on mobile platform such as Google Play and Apple App store. Which is another huge bonus in my book.
20. Batman: Arkham Knight
21. Lies of P
Lies of P is a souls-like game featuring the story Pinocchio, a puppet of Geppetto. Pinocchio is caught in a web of lies with unimaginable monsters and untrustworthy figures and must fight his way out.
New game plus mode of Lies of P allows you to carry all your weapons, items, and perks to the new game.
Beware though, NG+ difficulty is harder.
