CK3 Best Personality Traits

Best personalities to choose among for your Crusader Kings 3 heir.

ck3 best personality

On this CK3 best personality traits tier list, you’ll find 15 good personalities to choose for your heirs.

Good personalities can only be passed down by guardians with good traits. So, if your character has 3 bad traits, better let someone else with good traits mentor your children. They might or might not pass down 3 good traits but it’s a start. However, if you mentor with bad traits, there is a %90 chance for your heir to inherit bad traits. There are some exceptions though. If one of those rare events get triggered, your heir might get best or worst traits regardless of the mentor personalities.

CK3 WORST PERSONALITY TRAITS < Opposite traits.

Without guardianship / tutoring, your children will get random personality traits. Therefore, you should never let your kids unattended. Your children will get bad education and most of the time bad traits without mentoring. I always tutor even the 2nd and 3rd in line heirs because anything can happen in Crusader Kings 3. Medieval life is dangerous after all.

1. Temperate

Temperate is a virtuous trait in almost all religions. Therefore, it’s pretty good for relations and piety. But there more bonuses.

+2 stewardship bonus gets you closer to controlling one extra holding. That’s nice. Also, there is a small heath bonus. Don’t mistake it with stubborn traits disease resistance bonus, this one is a real deal health boost.

2. Gregarious

You’ll never experience stress ever as a King thanks to the Gregarious personality trait.

Gregarious trait also gives huge relation bonuses. +2 diplomacy, +5 attraction, +5 courtly vassal opinion, and +15% sway scheme power are great. Once you combine all, everyone likes you.

3. Just

Just is a virtue in Islam and some Baltic religions. That alone gives amazing bonuses. But just have much more benefits to it. Like stewardship, learning, vassal opinion, etc.

You gain stress from blackmail and execution of prisoners. However, the positives surpass the negatives overwhelmingly.

4. Calm

Calm trait unlocks the Meditate in Seclusion decision which is pretty OP. Meditation in CK3 can relieve stress, remove bad personality traits, and increase learning. What can I say. Meditate in both CK3 and IRL for happiness!

It increases the dread decay but whatever. Other bonuses make up for it.

5. Honest

Let me be honest, Honest trait is amazing in Crusader Kings 3 as long as you don’t follow intrigue lifestyle. Because -4 intrigue is the only negative aspect of it.

Honest is a virtue in Christianity and Slavic religions. That alone is the bonus. Also, +2 diplomacy and +5 courtly vassal opinion increase your relations.

You can’t blackmail without stress though!

6. Patient

I always take traits giving learning like patient. +2 learning bonus is superior!

It also gives some hostile scheme resistance and parochial vassal opinion. Negatives of patient personality trait? Nearly zero.

7. Humble

Humble trait has zero negative bonus other than irritating arrogant characters. Which is not a big deal.

Bonuses are +0.5 piety, +10 clergy and +10 zealot vassal opinion. They’re all great. I wish humble trait gave at least +1 learning though.

8. Diligent

Diligent have absolutely best skill bonuses ever. However, it decreases stress loss by -50%. So, if you can manage stress, it’s great, if you can’t, then it sucks. Imagine diligent combined with shy. It would be a death sentence!

This trait also unlocks a decision called develop capital. It gives +0.2 monthly development in realm capital for 5 years with the cost of 80 stress points. It’s a double edged sword to be honest.

9. Lustful

Lustful is a great personality in Crusader Kings 3 as long as you’re not Christian. Because lustful is sinful to Christians and will result in -10 Christian opinion, -1 piety, and -10 zealous vassal opinion. Quite bad and not worth it unless you’re non-christian.

But if you’re Asatru Viking or a Muslim, its possibly the best personality trait. You can have +15 children with this trait after taking concubines.

10. Zealous

It might sound strange, but I always pick zealous among other options. Simply because it has positive bonuses with nearly zero negatives.

+20% piety, +2 martial, and +15 zealot vassal opinion feels OP. You can declare as many holy wars as you want!

11. Content

This personality trait will make you gain stress from execution of non-criminals, claim throne action, or force onto council against your liege. But all of these three actions are rarely used. Besides, content trait increases stress loss. So, the stress gain elements of content irrelevant.

I like content because of the +2 learning bonus. Discovering innovations quickly is utterly important. I’ll take +10 parochial vassal opinion too.

12. Sadistic

If you’re not a Christian, sadistic is a good trait. But I wouldn’t take Sadistic trait as Catholic because it’s considered sinful.

For starters, +35 natural dread will make you feared all across the realm. I’m not even mentioning the trait exclusive events that are giving more dread. With that much dread, -10 general opinion means literally nothing.

+4 prowess and +2 intrigue appreciated as well.

But the absolute best thing about it is the fact that you can use hostile schemes against your children. It’ll allow you to manage succession perfectly. If you know what I mean.

13. Gluttonous

Being gluttonous is considered sinful in both Islam and Christianity. Not only that, but it also gives -2 stewardship and -5 attraction opinion.

However, Gluttonous characters never ever experience stress! Feel stressful? Just eat and it’ll all be okay.

I like it when my character becomes fat! What do you think? Nothing wrong with being a little bit chubby.

14. Brave

+2 martial, +3 prowess, +10 attraction opinion, and +10 glory hound vassal opinion. All great bonuses for a ruler.

Brave personality trait has amazing bonuses as long as you don’t mind dying in battle…

15. Wrathful

How did wrathful get into the best CK3 traits list? It gives -1 diplomacy, -1 intrigue, -10 courtly and parochial vassal opinion. WTF?

Well, +3 martial is absolutely killer for a martial focus ruler. Also, it unlocks punish criminal interaction which is brilliant addition to the game.

You can duel with criminals and imprison them if you win.
