Let's find out if greedy DLC policies cause piracy or not in modern gaming era.

There are too many DLCs in gaming now. Especially in Sims 4, Planet Zoo, simulation games, and every Paradox game. Why do they do that? For money of course. It’s frustrating. Does dishonest DLC policy cause piracy in gaming? There is a high probability. Still, you should never pirate games for the reasons of security, effort put in by developers, and not being stingy.

I don’t treat aggressive DLC policies like loot boxes or microtransaction. Most DLCs add real value to the game. The reason I’m pissed is the fact that developers save content or mechanics for DLCs and release half-assed games. That’s real dishonest if done purposely.

BEST CK3 DLCS

I mean, if you’re going to make a DLC, do it like Witcher 3. There is a reason why Witcher 3 one of the best RPGs ever if not the best. Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine DLCs of Witcher were dirt cheap and filled with giga rich content. In fact, they’re even better than the base game. In short, you’re going to release DLCs? Do it like CD Projekt RED.

Paradox DLC Policy

Paradox has many good game series like Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Stellaris, Hearts of Irion, Victoria, etc. I enjoy each and every one of them, they’re absolutely great. However, there is a huge problem. All of these Paradox games I’ve mentioned are not worth playing unless you don’t have the DLCs. These games are empty shells without DLCs! Vanilla versions does not have any content or mechanics…

As if they release games too early. With no DLC these games feel like alpha / demo versions. But of course, we all know the reason. It’s MONEY! Paradox is a greedy company that’s focused on milking money via DLCs.

Look at GTA online. It’s been around 10 years and still getting updates with minimal microtransactions.

At least make DLCs cheaper my dudes…

But that DLC policies are also what’s keeping games alive and up to date. Render unto Caesar. You still don’t like it? Buy DLCs when they’re discounted like I usually do. That’s the best solution I can come up with. Because no matter how much I hate Paradox, I really love their games. Addicted too!

Wish they weren’t intentionally saving core features for DLCs…

Paradox DLC Subscription

paradox subscription

Paradox recently introduced DLC subscription for Europea Universalis IV and Hearts of Iron IV.  Stellaris will soon get a subscription option too.

However, don’t expect a DLC subscription for Crusader Kings 3. Because it’s a fairly new game, Paradox wants to milk it as much as possible. Same with Victoria too I believe.

For a low monthly fee, you get to access every DLC. It’s a situational option. If you’re going to play these games for years to come, better buy the game instead.

If you’re going to play a month or two, just get the DLC subscription. You can save a lot of money that way.

Money is no problem to you? Forget about subscriptions, just buy the damn thing. Ha ha.
