Worst Things About Skyrim

Skyrim is a great game but there are some problems. Here are the 10 things that are absolutely worst things about Skyrim.

worst things in skyrim

I love Skyrim, I literally do. Probably played it around 2.000 hours. Skyrim has many good things about it, but equally bad things too. We all know the good things about Skyrim, that’s why we love and play it so much. But today, I’ll be talking about the worst things about Skyrim. No matter how much we love it, we need to talk about its problems too. Love you Todd Howard, but you are to blame for things I’m about to mention.

SKYRIM VOICED FOLLOWER MODS < One of the reasons why Skyrim is good.

Skyrim’s puzzles are retarded. Can I say that word? Sorry if I can’t, anyways, Skyrim’s puzzles are literally mocking your intelligence. They are ridiculously easy. Developers put absolutely no effort towards the door puzzles of draugr tombs. But this is literally nothing when we have much bigger issues in Skyrim.

Oh, by the way, Blackreach, Soul Cairn, and Forgotten Vale sucks too.

10 worst things about Skyrim that are game-breaking:

1. Loading Screens

Each and every door in Skyrim puts you in a loading screen. Whether it’s a house, a cave, a dungeon, a shop, or an inn, all waste time during entrance. There is no avoiding it either.

Skyrim is a 2011 game, and its engine is probably from 2010 – 2009, or even older. So, engine is super outdated, that’s why there are non-stop loading screens during gameplay.

Loading screens are unbearable especially if you don’t have NVMe-SSD. Regular SSDs don’t help. Even with best SSD, CPU, and GPU, you’ll still suffer loading screens. Good hardware help, but not enough. Especially if you use many mods, which is imperative for enjoying Skyrim.

2. Small Population

If bandits wanted to invade cities, they would’ve easily outnumber and overrun the armies.

Skyrim population is super low in cities, towns, and villages. Especially the minor cities such as Morthal, Dawnstar, Winterhold, and Falkreath are literally empty.

Even the biggest cities of Skyrim are super small like total 20 people. It’s because of the engine restrictions I know but that kills the immersiveness. Because a bandit camp, or a cave is more populated than entire cities. It’s ridiculous.

3. Level Scaling

Almost all beings of Skyrim scales with your level. That takes away the sense of progress. Because the stronger you get, the stronger random bandit becomes.

It’s especially worse in Skyrim because you level up with everything you do. Including alteration, restoration, alchemy, and other non-combat classes.

So, if you level up with no-combat class, you can’t kill enemies, or even get one shotted. You see, level scaling forces you to specialize on one combat skill ASAP. What’s more, after a while that’s not going to be enough. You’re going to have to level-up smithing and craft best possible gear in order to catch up with global level scaling.

4. NPC’s Ignore Your Achievements

Everyone you encounter in quests, wilderness, cities, or wherever treat you like shit. They don’t recognize your achievements. It’s one of those RPG cliches to be honest.

Some random fugitive approaches you, hands you a random item, and threatens you to hold onto it till he’s back. Bitch, I’m the master of all guilds, dragonborn, savior of the world, champion of Daedra…

Again, some random NPC treats you like you’re the delivery boy, a little kid, or some random peasant.

All in all, NPCs totally ignore your accomplishments in Skyrim. And that’s immersion breaking.

5. Guild Leadership Means Nothing!

You become the leader of any faction you join. Such as thieves, assassins, companions, mages, bards, etc. guilds. But becoming a leader means nothing. You can’t do anything as a leader. Literally, it’s a leadership in name only.

SKYRIM BEST THIEF MODS

Becoming a leader is also super easy. You don’t have to have any abilities either. For example, you expect an archmage to know many spells. However, you can become an archmage without learning or casting any spells in Skyrim. Same with thieves guild. You don’t need to learn stealth skill at all. You can simply hack & slash your way through thieves guild questline and become the master thief.

That’s how dumb the guild system in Skyrim is. There are so many things wrong with it.

I wish we had responsibilities as the leader. Such as recruitment, resource management, guild economy, having rivals, etc.

6. Empty Shell Without Modding

Skyrim is an empty shell without mods. The game is okay with mods, but mods can also cause crashes, fps drops, and bugs. So, modding in Skyrim is double-edged sword…

Remember the time you’ve spent hours downloading mods and when you launch the game, it crashes? Yeah, we all went through the same shit. But again, without mods Skyrim would be really boring.

All in all, mods made Skyrim what it is today.

7. Dwemer Ruins

They suck!!! Dwemer ruins suck in Skyrim. %95 of player base agrees that Dwemer ruins suck and there is no arguing about it.

Dwemer ruins are filled with traps, ugly Falmer, and frustrating machines that are focused to make your life harder.

What’s more, they are all dark, they are all look the same. Unless you’re a completionist / perfectionists, there is no reason for going into the Dwemer ruins.

8. Main Quest

What about the Main Quest of Skyrim? Too short, too cliché. There are many other fun things to in Skyrim other than following the main quest. It’s the weakest part of the game. Almost as if it’s rushed…

Another key point is you go from zero to hero in no time. Though that describes not only main quest, but every other guild questline. Maybe thieves guild can be an exception though.

Again, Skyrim main quest is very linear, you don’t get to make any choices or decisions whatsoever.

I simply install live another life mod and never initiate main quest in my new Skyrim playthroughs. I don’t want to deal with boring questline, and I hate it when dragons going around killing NPCs.

9. Lack of Options

Guild and faction quests literally have zero to none choices. You don’t get to make any decision whatsoever. Simply follow the quest without any control over anything. We say you can do anything in Skyrim, but it’s not the case when it comes to dialogue and decision making.

SKYRIM DIPLOMACY MODS

You can’t make choices. And for those quests that you can make choices, the ending doesn’t really chance much. It’s illusion of choice.

Though there are some choices you can make. But they are very few. For example, you either side with assassin’s guild or eradicate them. But again, there is no other option or choice during the entire guild questline.

10. Nazeem

Do you go to the cloud district very often? Oh, what am I saying, of course you don’t. I’ll have you know that there’s no pussyyyyyy.

Jokes aside, there are some annoying NPCs in Skyrim that you want to get rid of but can’t because of role-playing purposes or essential tag.

Let’s see, Nazeem sucks, we already covered him. Who else?

Some players consider Cicero and Sheogorath as annoying but on that, I disagree. Actually, they are my favorite NPCs!
