Is your BG3 crashing constantly? It must be really frustrating… But don’t worry, I know couple of solutions that might fix your Baldur’s Gate 3 crash problem.
Different problems require different solutions. If you have one specific crash problem, check out the headers below. If not, I have made a list of 9 global solution.
Baldur’s Gate 3 crash on startup and many other problems can be fixed easily with 9 solutions I have listed below.
BG3 crash fix:
- Uninstall and reinstall.
- Verify game files via steam or another platform you are using.
- Update your graphic drive and windows.
- Shut down your anti-virus apps before launching Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Run the game as administrator.
- Try switching between DirectX 11 and Vulkan BG3.
- Switch off firewall.
- Lower graphic settings of the game.
- Disable mods.
I hope on of them will fix your issue. After all crashing is the worst thing about Baldur’s Gate 3. It is a good game, but the problems must be fixed as soon as possible.
Crash on Save Baldur’s Gate 3
Saving the game in Baldur’s Gate 3 causes crash from time to time. It is absolutely the worst because all the progress gets lost… So, is it fixable? Not entirely. But there are some ways to reduce this problem.
Baldur’s Gate 3 save crashes happens mostly because of bugged items. I am not sure which specific items cause this issue. However, after getting rid of some suspicious items, you can reduce this BG3 save crash issue tremendously.
Mostly item hoarders encounter this problem. It seems food items are causing it. Especially if you separate your foods between group members to avoid encumbrance.
Also don’t have any food in your camp because it triggers the same problem.
Get rid of the parts of the spear vision of the absolute too because it is one of those bugged items causing crash.
Crash on Rest Baldur’s Gate 3
Crash on rest and crash on save in Baldur’s Gate 3 are caused by the same root problem. Bugged items…
In order to fix crash on rest, first you must get rid of the bugged items. Crash causing bugged items in Baldur’s Gate 3 are foods, empty bottles, and parts of the vision of the absolute spear.
By the way, after having a big combat, save first before looting… That is one way to avoid crash on save/rest problem…
BG3 Crash After Tutorial
That is an interesting one. Can’t say for sure what causes it. But there are some ways to avoid that. First, try creating a new character and speed-run the tutorial to see if it still crashes. If it does, that’s bad news. But not entirely un-fixable.
Second way is frustrating but whatever. You must go to the end of tutorial and save before finishing the tutorial. Then re-load until it doesn’t crash. It might work after couple of attempts.
BG3 Performance Issues
Performance issues sometimes gets fixed after switching between DirectX 11 and Vulkan. First thing should be switching graphic engine. Then of course graphical settings must be lowered to test FPS. If nothing fixes your Baldur’s Gate 3 performance issue, maybe it is time to upgrade your PC.
Optimization in Baldur’s Gate 3 is debatable.

Fuck this game
I am afraid I can’t agree with that statement.
I’ve done everything above but i still get This.
The game has encountered an unrecoverable Vulkan error and will shut down.
This error may be triggered by reasons that are not related to Baldur’s Gate 3.
Please try the following before restarting:

Did you disable Nvidia overlay or Radeon overlay?
It’s a problem with RTX 20xx series but I think you can fix it.
