Sending volunteers is a great way to farm army experience and tradition in HOI4. I always send volunteers if I can before the World War 2. Sending volunteer forces are easy. Right clicking on the target country shows the send volunteer button in the diplomacy screen. However, there isn’t any recall volunteers button there. So, how to recall volunteers in HOI4? Is it possible? Well, in a way.
Here is how to recall volunteers in HOI4 works:
There is not a recall volunteers’ button in HOI4. In order to recall your volunteers, you must enter a full-scale war with another country. That will recall your volunteers automatically. Other than that, there is no way to recall volunteers, manually at least.
But hey, don’t lose your hopes yet. There are some tools that allows you to recall volunteers in HOI4.

It simply adds recall volunteer diplomatic action to your game. Nothing more nothing less. It is totally immersive and lore friendly too. So that you can fully enjoy your HOI4 experience. It is multiplayer compatible too, but all players must install it first.
All the big mods like Kaiserreich have this recall volunteers’ diplomatic action. But you can’t recall volunteers in vanilla HOI4, even in 2022. I wonder what paradox team doing in their work team. It is a simple thing, yet still not solved. Maybe they will introduce this with a new DLC, who knows. In the meantime, you can enjoy beautiful HOI4 alternate history mods like Kaiserreich.
