GAMES WHERE YOU OWN A CASTLE

Jousting is a medieval and renaissance martial game between two combatants. On horse version is based on the military use of the lance. It transformed into a popular nobility sport during the Late Middle Ages.

It’s pretty epic for a game. Because jousters are usually noble knights with fancy armor. Also, anything can happen in a duel such extreme.

Best medieval jousting games:

1. Chronicles of Elyria

GO TO

I want to start this list with an underrated MMORPG called Chronicles of Elyria. It’s one of those games that I can’t believe getting the deserved attention.

It’s a semi-realistic medieval themed MMORPG with many different activities. Including jousting of course! So, if you want an online game where you can play as a real medieval knight, that is it.

The game isn’t out yet though. So, wait for its release and remember, full release might take some time.

2. Jousting VR

GO TO

Let’s continue with a VR game. Usually, I’m not really into VR games. However, VR is the only way of truly experiencing the thrill of medieval jousting. That’s why Jousting VR is the number 2 of this list.

It’s a game where you play as a knight who joined the medieval tournament. In this game you can challenge AI, your friend, or random player. Only one of you going to win. So, better know how to outsmart your opponent.

3. Speedy Spears

GO TO

Started with an MMORPG and continued with an VR jousting game on this list so far. You know what’s next? A 2D jousting game! Yes, Speedy Spears is a 2D platformer fighter game revolving around medieval jousting.

It’s an online PVP game with no single player or AI options at the moment. The game is not fully released yet but you can play the demo version on Steam platform for free.

4. Crusader Kings 3

GO TO

Crusader Kings III is a medieval ruler simulation / RPG / strategy with many options and features. Including joust tournaments.

You can hold tournaments as a ruler in Crusader Kings 3. But that’s not it, other rulers can also hold tournaments and you can participate in by travelling to their domains.

You can participate in jousting competitions by yourself as a ruler. Is your ruler an old man? Then appoint one of your knights to compete in jousting tournament on your behalf!

5. Tourney

GO TO

Number five goes to an isometric jousting game. Now that’s new. Guess we’re ticking all the boxes.

Tourney is a medieval tournament simulator. You build entire tournament area, make areas for jousting, melee and archery competitions, hire jester, guards and troubadours, and build apothecaries, blacksmiths, ale wagons and hog roasts. Basically, it’s a medieval tournament tycoon game.

But the game is not done yet. You’re also the head of a noble house. You’ll choose champions to compete in tournaments / jousts on behalf of your house. It’s all in one experience.

6. Mount & Blade

GO TO

When someone says jousting, Mount & Blade is the first game comes to my mind. It doesn’t have real or historically accurate jousting duel like medieval times. But you can use jousting spear with horse in any open battle you like.

Though some mods add real deal jousting to the game. If you like Mount & Blade, jousting, and modding, it’s time for digging!

7. Lance a Lot

GO TO

Lance A Lot, got it? You know, Lancelot… Lancelot du Lac is a fictional character from Arthurian legends, he is one of the greatest knights of the Round Table. A funny word play… Anyhow, let’s talk about the game itself.

This one is a fun and kinda memeish casual indie action game. It throws 4 players on a small map and the mayhem begins. The last one standing declared winner.

I said the game is funny and meme-like because in this game you joust on rockets instead of horses.

8. The Quest for Excalibur

GO TO

The Quest for Excalibur is an epic Arthurian story about finding Excalibur, reviving Arthur, and time travel. You read it right, yes, time travel. If you like the genre, check out the ranking of best time travel RPGs too.

Anyways, in The Quest For Excalibur, you travel through time and face Viking warriors, enter Roman arena, join jousting tournaments, and stroll through modern era French theme park.

It’s basically like Dreamfall Chapters in terms of time travel.

9. Epic Jousting

GO TO

Epic Jousting is currently a small jousting game prototype. Though it can become an online PVP in the future.

The game itself is free and only 34MB. So, I can’t think of a reason for not trying it as a jousting fan.

10. The Great Tournament

GO TO

This page contains MMORPG, VR, 2D, 3D, RPG, isometric, and couple of different kinds of jousting games. But I’ll do the ending with the most unique type.

The Great Tournament is a text-based RPG about medieval tournaments. If you’re unfamiliar with the genre, think of the old choose your adventure books where you flip to a different page according to your decisions.

In this story you start as a peasant boy and become a squire to a knight. Then become a legendary knight yourself.

Follow footsteps of the legendary knights, practice chivalry, joust tournaments, and fight for glory, love, and power! That’s what The Great Tournament is about.
