Hello and welcome to my Baldur’s Gate 3 class tier list. BG3 early access started with only 6 classes. Later, with patch 4 introduced a new class (druid) to the game. So, at the moment we have total 7 playable classes in BG3.
Which class is the strongest in Baldur’s Gate 3? For answer, see the tier list below. I made this class ranking for you. So that you can decide which class to choose for your custom character.
BG3 class tier list:
1. Wizard
Best class for Baldur’s Gate 3 is most definitely the wizard class. Because you will have tons of spells. Such as elemental damage spells, familiar summons, buffs, debuffs, enhancements, and charms. Having access to the variety of spells allows you to play situational.
Since wizard can learn each and every spell there is via scrolls, there is no class restriction. Gotta catch ’em all!
Baldur’s Gate 3 god tier class is wizard.
2. Warlock
Warlock class has the best ranged damage output in the Baldur’s Gate 3. Eldritch blast spell coupled with agonising blast invocation deals tons of damage! What’s more, facing with boss like creature, eldritch blast and hex combo is absolutely OP.
Did you knew that the eldritch blast can push it’s target? Indeed, repelling blast invocation allows your eldritch blast to send its target flying through air. Both invocations I mentioned earlier can be unlocked at level 2.
You can even spawn fiendish familiars too! Undeniably warlock is one of the best Baldur’s Gate 3 class there is. Besides, most of the social events in game tied to main Warlock stat charisma.
3. Cleric
One of the strongest class build in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the light domain cleric. Burning hands, scorching ray, flaming sphere, and radiance of the dawn spells coming with light domain deals really good damage.
Radiance of the dawn is the best aeo damage spell in Baldur’s Gate 3 early access.
Other basic cleric spells are also good of course. But when they combined with light domain spells, you get an unstoppable combat machine.
4. Druid
Since druid is the latest class release, it is a bit overpowered at the moment. It might be a marketing thing, I don’t know… But druid class is absolutely fun to play with. Not because it is OP but because it has lots of spells, summons, transformations, etc.
Preferred subclass is circle of the moon of course. Because you can transform into a polar bear!
Besides you can play druid class with the werewolf background mod without breaking your immersion. Totally role friendly.
It is good to have a druid character in your party because it can tank, heal, and conjure healing berries. Obviously druid can deal lots of damage too. You can also check out the Baldur’s Gate 3 druid mods in order to enhance your gameplay experience.
5. Ranger
Compared to other ranged classes, ranger class is actually pretty weak. Particularly spell wise. Therefore making the ranger dps (damage per second) low compared to wizard, warlock, etc.
Well, at least ranger class has the summon companion spell with the beast master subclass. Summon companion spell allows you to conjure animal companions. Such as bear, boar, raven, spider, and wolf.
Hunter’s mark is great for targeting big foes. Other than that, I can’t say anything good about the ranger class. Perhaps with the full release, ranger would be stronger don’t you agree?
6. Fighter
Battle master subclass can deal tons of damage but getting close to the enemies might be problem. Currently Baldur’s Gate 3 favors ranger characters the most. I know, mindflayer power psionic pull allows fighters to pull enemies to themselves. But it can be used only once per rest and that is not enough to turn the tides. Especially fighting against the multiple enemies.
Eldritch knight subclass is kind of cool. However, it is not strong enough in both spell and melee wise compared to the other classes. Therefore making it one of the least powerful class in my Baldur’s Gate 3 class tier list. But obviously it is fun to play. Especially when role-playing.
7. Rogue
Rogue is a really fun class. Thieving, sneaking, and assassinating is really fun! However, you don’t get to use these features much in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Not every combat allows you to use stealth features. Besides, your companions aren’t stealth based characters. Which makes your abilities some how irrelevant.
At this point rogue is the weakest class in Baldur’s Gate 3 power wise. But i am certain that this will change in the future with new patches, levels, etc.
