Underdark is an underground tunnel system just below the Faerun continent. It is considered as big as Faerun’s itself and hosts tons of living organism both good and evil. Baldur’s Gate 3 Underdark is as it was described in the books, very magical place with a lot of content. Actually, Baldur’s Gate 3 early access ends in the Underdark. So, that means there will be tons of new characters, enemies, and questline in the Underdark when full release came.
Still, Underdark is huge, even in the early access. I guess we will spend much more time in the Underdark at the full release.
Underdark Entrances
Well okay, we learned what Underdark is. So, where is the entrance? How do we enter there? It is not that hard of a thing to do. Luckily there are multiple ways to enter the Underdark, our options are not limited. Let’s start with Underdark location the entrances:
1. Overgrown Tunnel Entrance
First way to get there is to jump to Underdark from inside Aunt Ethel‘s den also called overgrown tunnel. But you need to wear whispering masks found in the cave in order to shatter the illusion.
You will see the Underdark entrance when you delve deep into the overgrown tunnel. It isn’t easy to miss.
2. Defiled Temple Entrance
The second way is solving the stone disc puzzle in the defiled temple. It will open Selunite post which allows you to enter to the Underdark.
The puzzle itself is actually not very hard. However, it takes too much time to solve it. Because stones turns very slowly, and combination is very boring. Instead of wasting your time on it, I suggest that you either watch the video below to solve it or try another entrance.
3. Underdark Elevator Entrance
Did you know you could access to Underdark via elevator? You heard it right. An elevator entrance in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can use the elevator in the Zhentarim Hideout to enter the Underdark. It is one of the easiest ways of accessing to Underdark but beware, Underdark is a dangerous place. Make sure to rest your party first before committing to this journey.
4. Matriarchs Lair – Baldur’s Gate 3 Underdark Entrance
Matriarchs lair is another entrance to the mysterious Underdark. Get close to the fast travel point in matriarchs lair and jump down below with the feather fall spell on.
That was the last Underdark entrance in BG3. I hope you won’t have any problem entering the Underdark. Even if you fail to find one of these entrances, you can always try the other one.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Underdark Puzzle
This puzzle unlocks the 2. Underdark entrance on our list. Selunite post can be accessed after solving Underdark puzzle. It is in the goblin occupied defiled temple. After you successfully move through the end of Selunite post, you will access to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Underdark map.
I must say, the Underdark puzzle is not really enjoyable. Requires lots of grind. That is why I provided you with this puzzle solving video.
Underdark Minotaur Boss Battle
Minotaurs big and scary. Watch out for horns! Eventually you will encounter minotaur boss battle in the Underdark.
How to beat Baldur’s Gate 3 minotaur battle? Dealing with minotaurs is not an easy task. You might need all 6 companions for this battle. I suggest that you use Baldur’s Gate 3 party size extender for recruiting all companions and destroy these filthy minotaurs with your death squad. You can also cheese them from a stealth awareness distance shots but where is the fun in that? I personally shouted Leroy Jenkins and charged them filthy minotaurs head-to-head.
That’s all, thank you for reading Baldur’s gate 3 Underdark guide. Do tell me how you beat minotaurs in the comments. I would really appreciate that.
