Owlbear egg is an easily found item in Baldur’s Gate 3. It is big, shiny, and promising. Everybody wants to hatch it and raise the owlbear baby. But is it possible? What to do with owlbear egg in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Unfortunately, you can’t do anything with it in the early access. It simply has no use, except for selling to a merchant. I guess in order to hatch it, we need to wait for the full release. I am sure it will hatch, and the baby will become our pet in the full version. Owlbear is one of the future possible Baldur’s Gate 3 pets.
Owlbear Egg
Owlbear hatchlings are tiny and adorable for the first few weeks of their life. Then they eat you out of house and home. Then they simply eat you.

Weight: 1kg
Value: 750
Its description is weird. Perhaps they will correct it later. Don’t you let it lay around though. Pick it from the nest once you defeat the mother owlbear. It can be a nice decoration for your camp.

An owlbear egg… These are supposed to be worth a fortune…
Owlbear is a creature that is a hybrid between a bear and an owl. I wonder who came up with that idea… Weird but cute, nonetheless.
You would want to pet and hug this fuzzy beast. But be careful, owlbear is the most dangerous wild animal in D&D. An owlbear pet would be really useful. Only a dragon pet can match with it. But I doubt that will ever be a thing in Baldur’s Gate 3. Because dragons are too ower-powered.
Owlbear Egg Location
The egg can be found in the Owlbear Nest. It is accessible pretty early in the game. Owlbear Nest is a cave location that can be accessed from the Forest location. Once you are inside the cave / nest, it is really easy to find. X: -351 / Y: -114 are the exact coordinates of the owlbear egg.
Unfortunate thing is, owlbear egg can only be obtained by killing the owlbear. You can’t even sneak past the mother because the combat scene triggers after getting close.
Personally, I hate killing this wild animal inside her cave. It is not a moral thing to do. But many people choose to kill it for the XP and loot reward. Unless you want to maximize everything, don’t disturb her for role-playing purposes. Of course, the choice is up to you.
All in all, owlbear egg is currently useless. Can’t hatch it or trade it to complete a quest. But obviously this will change in the future since this is an early access game.
